Regrets from life past? We all have these, different for each of course

To reflect if we are brave, to question if willing, but would it be different?

To turn back time, what if? What then? How would I be now?

No, I do not want this, I am made of my life, if past was changed, where would my children be

Where would my soul reside now, would I have the same laugh lines, humour, fears, hopes, desires?

Who would I be, not the same of course, I am me for better or for worse

The accepting is sometimes hard if I dig too deep, open scars, old wounds, it hurts for a time

There are aspects of history I would forget, willingly disregard, but they form me

I had moments, strong desires to return to my youth, change things, do it differently

But retain my current knowledge, to cheat blind development, cheat fate

No doubt a paradox would emerge, the end result would not meet my present now

Who would I really be now having done this? Certainly not me

And although there are times when I toy with this idea

For good or bad, I love being, sometimes uncomfortably, me
