Isaiah 43:2 King James Version 2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. Struggling through the darkness Trying to find my way I fought with pain and sorrow Felt fear dissuade my steps Walking on the path toward joy I was assaulted by despair Feelings of worry and anxiety Poured over my inspirations So that I couldn’t even find The way toward my heart’s destination Reaching toward my future With hopes of a better way I longed for peace and harmony A reason to share my blessings Wisdom to praise with my soul Assurance that I would become Overwhelmed by the pleasure He brought to life inside my heart Fighting my way across the deserts Of dry, uninhabited lands – where My heart felt lost in the distress And my soul’s hope was absent, adrift In the maze of apprehension and fuss Found on the seas of disappointment The waves of discouragement, dishonor Alive on the lives of those who know The shadows of dread that haunt the dreams Of those who don’t listen to the yearnings From A God who only wants your light To shine through the sadness and dread Bring second chances to those who need To see God in the blessings they know The ones that help them to learn and grow Into the lights, shining through the night, Stirring the spirits who need His glow To color their hearts in hues of hope! Wrestling with the sorrows and pains Unsure just what I might need to regain My strength, my hope and my dreams I sometimes don’t realize the answer Is living inside – I just need to ask Him Pray with my heart, even in my thoughts, Knowing His grace is always sufficient And His light will pierce the blackness That has troubled my soul and left me Without a hope – just a single P R A Y E R
