Poem
Science and scientists can be very divisive. Some seek truth; others seek accolades. My creator was such a man Who made me to demonstrate his greatness And denied me instead. I am not cruel, uncouth. In fact, I am much more educated than People may believe. People judge on looks, not brains, On words of grifters rather than great men of science. Perhaps a gathering, a cultural soirée-- A tea party! That’s it! I shall announce my intentions to bring the greatest men To end Covid, Raging on because of false prophets. Once my intentions were known. Great leaders from everywhere, more inquisitive About me, “the monster” then ending the spread began to beg for invitations. But who to select? My intention was to find answers To eradicate Covid, not to put myself on display. Jeff Bezos offered money in exchange for an invitation, Money or stock in Amazon, my choice. Dr. Fauci was more humble. He did not fear me; he simply wanted to be heard And not to be scorned for wanting to help save lives. President Biden requested a seat at the table For either him or Vice-President Harris. He does not fear me. He does not mock me. He loves his country and asks simply to Be part of the solution, something I admire. Former President Trump found out about the party. He saw it as an opportunity to spout nonsense. When he found out the party was small and That golf was not on the agenda, he pouted. He did offer to host at Mar-A-Lago, for a ridiculous price. Pass. There were others to begged for invitations: Xi Jinping, Kim Jong-un, Putin to name a few. They offered the moon, but I trust none of them. Humanity is not part of their makeup, And for this, their requests were dismissed. Tea parties are small, intimate gatherings. My guest list was made, and invitations were sent. Mr. Bezos replied, “Yes.” Dr. Fauci replied, “Yes.” President Biden replied, “Yes.” And so the party was set. They arrived, one by one, wearing masks!--Masks! They acted like humanitarians; my monster heart was full. They did not reject me or the food and drink I offered. They talked, and planned, and played On each other’s strengths. At the end of the day, we had a team. This team was moving forward With a plan in place To stop the spread of Covid And ensure a safe 2022 for all. That’s all it took; a cup of tea, People willing to listen and collaborate, People with resources to make it happen, And a “monster” to bring them together. Covid, the real monster, will soon be no more.
