Poem
Before the rising of the sun, my soul is well Desiring what is good, the day shall spell To do his will, my flesh I must compel My late morning run seem to go quite well Although I felt somehow, I could not smell Then in a store, to buy some things they sell The air was hard to breathe, that I could tell Then came the day a flaming fever fell The test came out that shows I am unwell That I needed another place to dwell I went alone into my citadel In seven days, my blood began to swell My tongue was like a dry and empty well And felt my lungs was turning into gel The plague took its toll on my fragile shell That was bent to destroy my every cell When my oxygen dangerously fell My frantic heart raced like a frail gazelle My immediate future, I could not foretell In vain I failed the virus to expel Then came the plea from my sister Belle That I seek some help for my illness quell Or else bid this world with my last farewell To the infirmary was I propelled And cared for by medical personnel Air tethered by tubes, and pierced with needle That the cure may flow in my blood vessel Twelve lonely days, I languished in my cell A punishment that almost felt like hell But God's grace silenced the untimely knell Loved ones and friends prayed for a miracle For mercy that my sickness may dispel To put this whole ordeal in a nutshell As I am now a living spectacle The one who got away, that he might tell The Lord is nigh to him, whose soul is well.
