(sorry, just noticed this had gotten copied and pasted twice, making it appear extra long)

His editor made a call to his house.
He’d promised her poems. Where was that louse?

Again and again she dialed her phone.
He’s now missed the deadline, she thought with a groan.

She called one last time, and then she got through.
But just who the heck was she talking to?

The woman who answered refused to comply
with letting her talk to the poetry guy.

The woman, it seemed, was wife to the bard.
“I’m sorry,” the wife said. “You’ve caught me off guard.

My husband simply cannot talk to you.
His hands are tied and nothing can he do.”

“Now, lady,” the editor said, sounding pissed.
“The deadline your husband has already missed

You get him now. I don’t care what you say.
You tell him to get on the phone anyway.”

The editor had no idea that she
was talking to someone who was crazy.

The bard’s wife was laughing! Good heavens! Why?
“What’s happened?” the editor got this reply:

“I told you already that his hands are tied,
and by the looks of it, now he has died.”
