Ancient cathedral pulled Catriss and her steed toward the forest.
It was an uphill climb, so she dismounted and waked beside her friend.
Winston was thrilled, for she offered him a sugared apple on the way.
Oleander flowers lined their path holding the oaks back, a natural path.

Mist gave Catriss’s imagination fresh new songs, as she fed Winston.
They might not have the answer, she told him, but I have to ask.
Spiritual advisors always spoke to her from the bowels of the cathedral.
She had been listening to their counsel since she was eight-years-old.

Being a clairaudient empath was a gift she did not take for granted.
Catriss understood that it is given to few, and it should not be wasted.
She sensed an animal watching. Turned to see the white tail of a deer
As they beast jumped over a fence, and ambled out of sight.

Beasts in a forest are always so much more beautiful she told Winston.
He was a patient horse, and the best listener she had ever met.
She came out of the cathedral a few hours later with the answers.
Refreshed, and enthusiastic, she felt a whole lot lighter.

Winston sensed that something wonderful had taken place.
He gave her a nudge indicating she should ride.
She did not want to disappoint him, so she climbed onto his back.
Happy horse and joyful rider returned to the village with a flourish.
