Days filled of games, good thoughts, and silliness When cookies and recess were the ultimate bliss For the most part, my childhood was simply just this Imagination was key, Smiles and giggles a must Popping balloons just to see them bust Peanut Butter, grape jelly, preferably no crust Sibling rivalries, I’m not touching you, a daily event Piggy banks had me saving every little cent Secret hide outs, you know, a sheet hung tent Kick ball games, hide n seek, and tag your it Rainy days were the worst, stuck inside to just sit Bike races and double dares, mischievous a little bit This is what’s been told to matter in a child’s eye To be protected, sheltered from things that make them cry Kids should only know of happy, unfortunately, that’s a lie This is the fact, rather or not you think it to be fair Children need good parents, ones who truly care To sacrifice their selves, Nothing else can compare This is the story of what my parents had to endure They had four daughters all innocent and pure A perfect start to a story, yes I concur But one passed away and their heart, it tore They say it was a heart attack, she was only four In the dark of the night their child laid lifeless Left to question what was done to deserve this A future ripped away in the blink of an eye The loss of a child is the hardest goodbye This family struggled as the pain of missing her grew An effort to carry on, they did what they could do Gave comfort and protection to the remaining three From all the pain they didn't want them to see Tried to rebuild, over the years, start a new That is until tragedy hit again, deja vu Lightening would strike twice, 911 again they'd dial Sanity had only returned for a short while I was seven years old just getting ready for bed Cardiac arrest, it's true, I remember being dead A nightmare revisited, yes another child This time was different blessed with a revival Lucky was the word, that's what the doctor described Thankful, we were, but old wounds opened wide My life it was saved, my parents never questioned the cost Ambulance and hospital bills, even our home we lost After it was all said and done, my parents vowed Worth every penny to keep this family, this crowd My parents brought us through the storm, that’s the gist Thankfully strong loving parents were our bliss For the most part, my childhood was simply just this
