Overwhelmed

Sometimes it feels like it will never be OK
It goes on and on and on
Darkness creeps in and you cannot see the light
Prayers seem to have fallen upon deafened ears
Does evil continue to win?
Destruction and injustice prevail?
If only I could run the universe and cause evil to disappear….
There would be no abuse or hurtful words that fracture a spirit
Goodness would always win and peace would surround us like a blanket.
Poverty and hatred would cease to exist
Hunger would not be permitted and…
All would have enough
A father could not destroy his son with words that crack his soul
A mother would never cry for her broken, addicted child
The broken and the walking wounded would have hearts healed by love
A thief would stop dead in his tracks and think again
Illnesses would shrivel up and no longer wreak their pain
Little children would keep their innocence
Freedom would reign
Colour, size, language and race would never even matter
The burden of these evil things must be so much to bear
The weight of evil and broken choices would be too much for me
I wake up to another day and the light comes creeping in
Hope arises like the dawn, cautiously...
Prayers continue and chip away at mountains like a persistent hammer
These tears will some day end and give way to a grateful heart
I couldn’t take on the universe
I can barely handle me!
Let my light become brighter and let me be the change that I seek
I shall leave the universe to One who never sleeps nor gets weary
I pray for strength
To face another day
I pray to change the atmosphere and love without bounds
I pray for mercy and understanding for things not understandable!!
I pray for grace for all these things, this day!
