Poem
Was our chance meeting just a coincidence? Or was it fate? I like to think it was serendipity that brought you my way If I hadn’t been the one that answered your call that day, would we have ever of been? Or would we have gone on with our lives never saying what both of us needed to say? If you hadn’t been so broken and at the end of your line, would you have reached out to me? Would your heart have latched onto mine? If you had been truly happy with your life and where you were, then you wouldn’t have fallen for me, you would still have been with her I would never have gotten to hear the loneliness in your voice, or the way you cried to me when you thought you had no other choice I would never have known what a compassionate person you were, or the way it felt when you held me in your arms and told me that I was your whole world I would never have experienced the look of love that shined for me in your eyes, but then again, if we had never of met then you would never have told me goodbye I would never have known that true love existed, and I would always have believed that it was a myth, but with you I am so glad that I can look back and say that I experienced it I would never have known that you could hear the love beating for you from another’s heart, and that you could hear their heart speaking to you, even when your miles apart But at the same time, I would never have known true excruciating pain that takes your breath away, I wouldn’t know the way that it feels to die emotionally, day after day I wouldn’t have known that life isn’t always fair, that it can be so unkind, and I wouldn’t have to look back now and wish that you were still mine I wouldn’t have to know the feeling of being second best, I wouldn’t know that when your heart is broken that you can never put the memories to rest I wouldn’t have known that someone like you was meant for me, and I wouldn’t have to live without you for the rest of my life, due to a cruel twist of fate, called serendipity.
