Poem
COSMICALLY DEEP Did the garden weep With the ungrateful sweep Of their covetous hands? Deep Was the pit of their pickpocket. Sleep Thought merciful and kind, allowed not a peep From their rosy lips, where sweet cheeks steep.* A father took enough of a long leap, Where the shepherd would tend to his lost sheep, Absolve them - not harvest to reap What they sow. Tis too late to stop the creep Of the garden snake and certainly not cheap — The stomp of its horny-head, the splintered son in a heap. Sentient of mankind’s plight, the Son of Man did weep as his children root in garden beds; and choose to keep the Adams and Eves, whose restoration, was not dirt cheap. Behold the Lamb of God did not oversleep! The earthquake and lightning cosmically deep — The thunder roll of an angel veep. He sat upon the lightweight bolder. The like dead men sleep. As in joyous weep, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, reap First, the benefits of glory, not cheap. As they did run and leap The Lord met them along the way. They’d keep His secret, until they’d shake his disciples wide awake from sleep. 5/13/2020 *Here I attempt to paint a picture of a mischievous child who when fast asleep, a mother sighs, remembering her love for him (her) once more.
