Mike had an overdraft that put him in a pickle
He wasn't worth a dime not even a nickel
He would be the first to say when he got his pay
He went out to play
He loved playing cards, he mostly lost
He bet on horses never counting the cost
Easy come, easy go was his way of life
It was entirely different for his careful frugal Wife
She wasn't mean she had no choice
When it came to finance
Mike never heard her voice
She tried her best
To help her Husband escape this mess
He was too irresponsible to listen, I guess
It all became too much she had enough
She wanted some order in her life
This life was far too tough
She packed her few possessions without any fuss
She rode away from poverty
On a Number 37 bus
For a time Mike missed his Missus
And the company she supplied
Somehow his gay abandon
Had shrivelled up and died
He felt in his pocket and found his last dollars and nickels
Went down to his local Pub and got
COMPLETELY PICKLED
