Muse #2 - The house with a thousand rooms

FOREVER IN A HOUSE WITH A THOUSAND ROOMS

The house with a thousand rooms, reflecting
doors, and by the way, ceilings, floors and walls.
Even as Alice falls, “skedaddling”
as the long-eared rabbit recalls, “Oh my!”
“How long is forever and forever
is for how long? Just one second...here she,”
he barely exhales as one thousand rooms
shatter, “Oh this Alice, always getting
in trouble!” “Did I mention there’s mouse holes,
and the king is not amused. He was in
the middle of eating a huge morsel
of cheddar when - kaboom - earth shattering,
ear splitting monsoon of reflective shards…
His minions survey the damage. Mirrors
toppled on mirrors, “Who’s going to pay?!”
Alice trembles - she dislikes mice — fearsome,
larger than life with their itty bitty
tails and teeth - she wants to climb on table.
Half past a second I show her my hole.
She leaves in a hurry, poor little girl.”
