Winter’s Song


The darkness of the pewter moon
Casts its light 
Upon the dreary December night
Curtains close for autumn’s harvest 
Leaves and cones and needles swept underground 

The arctic brisks fill the air 
Crystals and icicles adorn bare forest wood
Fluffy snow mount on the ground 
Balled up to get thrown around 
Full figured, round men are formed by the human hand
Sticks, carrot, buttons, hats , 
gloves and scarves bring them to life 
Snow angels give their blessing and leave their imprint behind

Winter birds take flight into the night
The snow owl gnashes prey out of sight

The wind whirls and howls  a dreadful weeping sound

White laced snow flakes grace the sky
Veiling it’s bride with mounts of fluffy clouds 

Falling onto evergreen
Weighing it down 
Bare  trees are clothed with winter leaves 
That melt and leave us when the sun comes out and blazes with all its heat

It leaves us with an image 
Souvenirs as such :
Snow glows : balls of glass 
water and styrofoam floating inside
Music to fill our hearts

Black ice
Dirt, char and everything nice
Slips and falls whenever it likes

Everything breaks under winter’s nose
The heart, one’s passion for life 
And the bitter fight for light and the thirst for ice in a tall glass of sunshine 
Ice in droplets splashed into one’s face
Sizzling in the sun, yet content with its warmth
