Poem
Prologue to I Have Seen The Demons There is a darkness, which dwells inside of me... one in which no light can dwell. I wish that the powers of my spirit could reach to touch the light outside Of my inner cavern, then the darkness might be gone away. Our own madness is not usually from the heart but from the head... I have seen the demons, I have heard them call my name. Listening to their voices in the late of the night, it was often the same as thunder clapping & a never ending darkness which might have became a constant. They would often come to me & I would feel a great shame. They, cackling like looming, hapless witches whispering secret incantations over their smoking cauldrons and I would be afraid, ever so afraid! But, by a special grace, I was always able to cover my ears & call to my God, my friend & save face. This cup was thus always taken from me. So, in the deepest &darkest of the nights & in the most endless of raging & weary seas, when, otherwise, there seems no relief from injury or from the seeming infinite inner & outer insanity--- call out. Cry out loudly in a sound endlessly multiplied, so, in your heart it cannot be denied the sincerity & truth with which you cry--- And a grand & gracious witness will sigh “God is here, right here, and do not be afraid!" Then, be very quiet & still & feel the truth of His light wrapping about you tenderly. He will hold you close as his precious and ever loved child Who is draped in a swaddling blanket, his arms gripping you ever so tightly & ever so safe... his love being fully unconditional, his understandings of you being ever complete. Know, at this time, now and forevermore, there is nothing more to fear. Byron from Canto III-- "How to make madness beautiful and cast O’er erring deeds and thoughts a heavenly hews."
