Poem

When I see you walking with him,
It tears me all apart.
I think you know the way I feel,
I’m in way over my heart.
 
I study your every movement,
I watch your every stride.
Your smile, your laugh, your presence,
All tear me up inside.
 
So why am I not with you,
Why do you stay with him?
The problem is you’re married,
And all of us are friends.
 
But now you’re not a stranger,
I’ve spent some time with you
I’ve told you that I love you,
And you’ve told me the same thing too.
 
So now we love in secret,
In a way we’ll never tell.
But some memories still remain with me,
Like the sound of a distant bell.
 
I’ve had a lot of secrets,
Like quiet times I cried.
For it’s hard to love a woman
When to do so I must hide.
 
I need to tell the world,
Exactly how I feel.
I need you to help me share this life,
So you’ll know my love is real.
  
If things were better for you,
I could love you from afar.
But I know the way you’re treated,
You’re not happy where you are.
 
You need a man to love you.
A man who knows you’re there.
A man who won’t take you for granted,
The man you need is here.
 
So here’s your invitation,
A chance to change your life.
A chance to find real happiness,
A chance to do it right.
 
But even if you refuse me,
As I fear somehow you’ll do.
I want you to know as life goes on,
I’ll always be there for you.
 
So if you never leave him,
And you say it’s just because.
I think you owe it to me,
To go back to where it was.
 
Lets continue to see each other,
And not waste another day
If you cant come back to me, come as far as you can,
And I’ll come the rest of the way.
