Even When The Entirety Fails The Wanted Sum I stand aghast at how fast these verses oft come Even when the entirety fails the wanted sum Upon low hills, I seek much higher mountain tops Rejoice, in blessings of poetry's bumper crops Treasures newborn by desires, searching souls and heart Oft joining mankind and Heaven so far apart. I stand aghast at how fast these verses oft come Even when the entirety fails the wanted sum I cast my ink and the paper begs for much more As old pen scribbles, broken heart weeps as before Careful to avoid sad-tears wetting filling pages Reminding spirit, poets are brothers to sages Born to gift and share Life's sweet blessings in black ink With knowledge that human life is too oft a blink. I stand aghast at how fast these verses oft come Even when the entirety fails the wanted sum I wake to dawn's voice, commanding compose more words We are more than just beasts roaming in raging herds From Life, we may find inspiration and pure Love Such may come, even if its not sought from above Hold this wisdom, this truth that promises much more All true-seeking may find joy of paradise shores. I stand aghast at how fast these verses oft come Even when the entirety fails the wanted sum Robert J. Yet my soul will defy its joining with Fate's blackened hand and wicked glee. New Note (2019): Now going on record, oft defiance is the true measure of a man. And in its journey we may rise to greater heights and see Fate and Death both temporarily thwarted. Yet such is always a temporary measure. Death may come in a blink of any eye or upon a gnat's whisper in the blacken host of eternally raging winds.....
