Poem
Stepping out, tired and weary, feeling just so What the hell..... I have no place to go The desire to turn back would be bad I’d be returning to the same life style I had. For me, my views on life need to be rearranged I was productive back then, but I had changed, Couldn’t go forward and clear up my mess I don’t blame others, is my fault, I confess. My purpose in life is to regain what I lack My past I need to let go, never go back, If I revert back it won’t be a merry go round It would stall my progress, no gaining ground. I will lay out my journey, but I have no map It’s possible I may have to do another lap, I am determined to get ahead Living a happier life style instead What road I choose to follow shall be straight My decisions will follow me, I await my fate My destiny is too far from here to discover Most important to me now is how to recover. I have a few tools to reconstruct my lifestyle Powered by diligence, I can go the extra mile I see many footprints on the wayside Those that wander, tend to slide My trek can be lonely, I must not despair I must not lose, I have no spare. Conflicts and resolutions are on the table Positive attitudes are listed on the label. I will not pass a travelers inn or road stand No map to follow, just straight open land, Hills are challenging, I’ll stay in control If I need to rest, the journey can be on hold No signs ahead to keep me on course If I falter I will have much remorse I will dust myself off, get back on the road Zip up my feelings, carry the load I’ve gotten to a bend which was not expected It must be a challenge that I have detected I’m not off course, I have my cues Stay in the middle, won’t slip in these shoes. Roads bends can be hazardous to those who speed Slow down my endeavors, continue the lead No need to hurry, I’ll make good. Haste makes waste, that’s understood. I’ve heard the saying, ‘time will heal’ Accomplishments I hold is good to feel Nevertheless, I still have miles to go When I come to the next bend, I’ll take it slow. Bends in the road are here for a reason They help me slow down during this season I find these curves are there to protect They give me time to pause and reflect. I see now how far I have traveled A lot of emotions I kept now unravel, These bends give me time to inspect my feelings Releasing my tensions and explore new healings. I am not alone on the road as you can see Many more are traveling ahead of me, I promised myself I would not alter my way One door closed, another will open; I pray.
