Poem

For an unknown time,
These tattoos have been on my chest, I think,
Despite criticisms, it’s my body, I value the ink,
I’m a youth, it’s an art, and it suits me in my prime. 

The pains are considerably bearable, 
The magic of the machine thrills me to the core,
It adorned me with memories that mean so much more,
My painful and favorite pasts that are unforgettable.

Under duress, many got these same indelible paintings in prisons, 
I pray you don’t judge others who got theirs on a whim,
Because it’s their skin,
And was designed for some specific reasons. 

These tattoos will be on me till the day I will die,
But I wouldn’t still want to see them on you my dear,
Because with time, the criticisms, you may not want to bear,
I’m serious and at the moment, I can’t lie.

Stated clearly in the Holy Bible,
Leviticus 19:28 “You shall not make any cuts in your body 
For the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves:
I am the Lord.”
Could this be a law for the ancient Israelites or still for today’s Christians?

Maybe, we were all misled by fashion, the street and modernity,
An irremovable and irrevocable costly mistake. 
Patiently, we all wait for the judgment day,
Since only God can judge.
