Poem
often she'd stay the weekend. I'd give her these turnovers. She'd reject them at first by saying" yuk, you eat pig ears"! but one day she took one and ate it. She request them every easter as part of our easter party. We've been married for twenty three years now, and these turnovers are what bought us together. When we got our thang together we started dating more often, one night she told me she was pregnant, two days later I bought her a ring. I love this woman and just wanted to share this story with you. 3 cups of (finely chopped) pigears 3 Tablespoons of salt 3 cups of shredded cabbage 1 cup of julienne red bell pepper 2 cups of julienne red onion 4 Tablespoons of cayenne pepper 5 Tablespoons of lemongrass 3 Tablespoons of celery seeds 1/2 cup of julienne ginger root 3 Tablespoons of beet juice 1 cup of lime juice 1&1/2 cup of apple cider 7 crushed cloves of garlic 1/2 cup of dried pineapple 1/2 cup of a tart green apple in a cheesecloth bag add two crushed chilli peppers (hot) remove the red pepper in the cheesecloth and disregard. in a large lid cover bowl, add all ingredients. cover with the lid and shake until all the ingredients are covered. allow to stand in a cool area for 24 to 48 hours.strain, removing all the vinegar solution. return to a bowl. 1 cup of honey 3/4 cup of raspberry preserve/ or strawberry preserve 3 Tablespoons of orange zest 1 cup of pumpkin seeds add to cabbage mixture and allow the sweet and sour to mix, and fuse together. roll pastry dough, to make turnovers. make turnovers and cook until done.
