Poem
I found myself walking in a green magical forest, with bright flowers and creeping vines everywhere; the trees were breathing and the flowers whispering, and those vines were moving- twining toward me. I had gone to bed and grandma had tucked me in, under my patchwork quilt I lay on my pillows; I really loved my attic room and all my toys and pets, especially Flippy Flop my cat and Dippy Dot my dog . . . I read for a bit under my fancy lamp until my eyes closed, then Teddy, nudged me and said- lets go on a journey so, off we went with everyone following, oh dear, I said, there was Flippy Flop, Dippy Dot, Teddy and all my toys too. The rabbits, dolls, puppet soldiers, and three white horses, we walked along- a long parade into the magical forest; suddenly, my blue bird was flying over and a fairy doll too, we went deeper and deeper into the green, oh dear, I said. Along the way we stopped to chat with the trees and flowers, the vines caressed us with tickles- little creatures giggled; we saw pretty things like a gang of butterflies fluttering, and hummingbirds whirling their wings so fast we laughed. On and on we went until my eyes closed because I was sleepy, Teddy, can we please go home, I miss my bed and pillows . . . In the morning, Teddy was tucked in beside me and I kissed him, Flippy Flop and Dippy Dot guarded me and all my toys watched. Grandma came to wake me, asking sweet- how was your sleep, I answered, GREAT, I went on a journey, and she just smiled; It was time to get up for the day but I could not wait until bedtime, and another journey with my pets, Teddy and my toys following. ________________________ January 24, 2019 Poetry/Free Verse/A Magical Journey Copyright Protected, ID 19-1107-663-02 All Rights Reserved.
