Poem
A TWICE REFORMED CLOWN There is an eerie silence, In the Big Top, Not a sound is heard, A heart beat could stop, A hush envelops one, And all, Only the Ringmaster, Whistles a call. Suddenly with splendor, And gust, In burst the entertainers, With such lust, Everyone’s in the mood For laughter, But is the clown that Comes in just after? A dwarf 1.25m waltzes in, The mirth and merriment Immediately begin, The children line all The front row, One stretches his hand, To unleash the clown’s bow. The clowns face contorts Into many a way, He’s paid to make the audience, Want to stay, His face is painted so as to Look permanently funny, But the tears trickle down. And his nose is runny. He’s a little man Who was born for a reason He escaped from jail, Had been judged For a crime of high treason, He exists in the confines, Of an old caravan, And cooks his meals In a second hand pan! With the Circus he Anonymously lives, And travels wherever They go, And gives the children A wonderful show! People stare, laugh and say, There he goes. Who wants to employ A deformed, Little man, With no education, Who drives an old van? But this circus did, and Reformed his life, He no longer has that, Heart aching strife Those ugly comments Made outside, In the circus arena, it was Good, no need to hide! Life is cruel, he’s learnt, The hard way, He is here to stay! Maybe somewhere in a world that‘s, That’s quite mad, Someone will notice a deformed, Dwarf, that’s sad. Immediately the clown is rewarded, For in that first row, He sees the child, Who unleashed his bow, And the love that he sees, In that little child’s face, Makes up for the errors of, The whole human race! The tears now all vanish, The laughter is real, He has a friend, The child’s heart did he steal, And maybe tomorrow, Another will come, And sit in the front row, With his father and mom. The message I send said the, Clown that reformed, Forgive and forget that You are deformed, You’ll be rewarded, How I don’t know, But when it does happen, You’ll have more friends, Than foe!
