Poem
If God spoke and asked me who would you bring back in a heartbeat? I would not have to hesitate for it would be mother . . . of all the people I have lost to Heaven mother's death shattered me the most she was not just mom but my very best friend in the world my anchor and rock loyal and steadfast the one person who loved me no matter what stupid thing I did and I had a few blunders along the way to here but so did she . . . at the end of her life we had cleared all that stuff up we talked, we forgave, and we let go if I could be just a fraction of the person mother was then I would be one fine person people lined the street for her funeral and I have never been so proud she had an inner light that brightened every life she touched God be very proud of your work creating this woman if I could have mother back even for a little while I would be the happiest girl we would go to her garden and walk the flower path have tea in the gazebo or go for a drive in the country with the wind in our hair perhaps a horseback ride or a picnic by a rippling stream I would tell her about my life and ask her if she liked Heaven God, could I have mother for just a heartbeat? _____________________________ October 16, 2018 Poetry/Free Verse/In A Heartbeat Copyright Protected, ID 18-1071-783-01 All Rights Reserved.
