Poem
Shave his beard, strip him bare Muss his bed pouring thereon beer Pelt him sore rotten berries, there is one he can't bear Such as a man trying to awaken his old man that was dead As a peasant chasing vermin off his seedbed. There is revel in town tonight of ale, and bread and the fairest ladies He misses none enough to go pale, as he walks down vale of lilies. Sam the Beautiful, for so he is called Knelt one night in an old cathedral and gave his word Colors divine washed his earthly dull till all could behold But by mockery was he tried to be well-assured. Call him fool, smear turd upon his stool Save your drool for his face as he returns from Bible School Hide away his tool that he may not fix his faulty bicycle 'Sam The Beautiful', to truly be is his secret prayer When the lights goes off for no one to peer. And wistfully they say, "tis so sad for a promising guitar man and brawny, that blows away the fairest folks of our town." Sam the Beautiful, as he is called Knelt one night in an old cathedral and his sins mourned O the joy that crashed over his soul as waves of crimson sea before the Lord! Someday on the hour the Master shall call will he stand before He whom ever he loved.
