[Please note: while the tone is light and tongue-in-cheek, its import is 180* opposite-- the estrangement of the human from the divine.] ' I SHALL HIDE MY FACE FROM THEM. I SHALL SEE WHAT THEIR END WILL BE' Deuteronomy 32:20 Once upon a time, God Walked and talked with man, and when the man was lonely, God made woman. They had everything they needed: eternal light, good food (with lots of fruits, including apples!) and they could run through paradise naked and free all the day long! But it wasn't enough for these humans (is it ever?) So sure enough, they wind up taking the advice of a-- snake! Then God played them, pretending He didn't know what'sup (right, the Maker of the Universe clueless) and like any guy would, Adam blamed the woman-- 'She nagged me, Lord, I mean, what could I do?' (wuss!) and Eve, the cleverer one, laid it all on the snake: 'He gave me bad advice, God-- he's a snake in the grass!' So God sorted them all out, but one wonders if they ever regretted their monumental screw-up, or would they have snuck back into Eden to have a go at the other forbidden tree, the important one, the Tree of Life, but for the fiery angel blockin' the door? Then too, that would have been the smart move, getting them immortality before knowledge-- but when have we humans ever really been very smart... let alone wise?
