A LADIES BAG

Hi darling will you please
Grab my bag,
It’s on the chair with my new dress,
Still with its price tag,
Ted said that he would look,
Okay, I replied please don’t lose 
The page in my book!
My lipstick fell loose inside my bag,
It’s really messy,
I know, don’t nag,
I knew Ted was only being kind,
He hated looking in my
Bag to find,
Whatever it was that I lost, 
And often said,
Buy a smaller bag whatever the cost!
Out fall two scarves, 
A pair of shoes,
And a magazine.
That was just the start, 
A lot more I knew
Was going to be seen!
A packet of popcorn 
And a box of hooks,
And I always carried a 
Spare pair of brooks!
My open purse came next
And my cell phone was on,
Sending the same text, 
Over and over again to my friend,
How stupid could I possibly be,
I felt irresponsible and could 
Not defend,
This careless expensive call,
Which I couldn’t substantiate at all!
My open purse had spread
Money here and there,
Oh dear, and my day cream jar had
Opened and had spread everywhere!
Ted looked at me with
A hopeless look,
You sort this out he said, 
I’ll go and cook.
My lipstick had fallen into the jar,
Imagine if all this had happened
In the car!
Teddy have you seen my keys,
I saw his eyes roll
Oh my soul!
Are they not in your bag?
The one that has begun to sag!
Something had to be done soon,
He did not have to be
At work until noon,
So Ted went out to find a bag,
For Sue, but here’s the snag,
What color would she like? 
This one was small and bright – definitely 
She would dislike this and,
The black over there,
The clasp was awkward, 
And it would tear,
The blue was too big
Just like her last,
The shop attendant 
Was about to blast,
Ted, so he quickly called Sue
To come and choose a bag 
Of her choice,
He hoped not too big, 
She had such poise,
And it didn’t suit her to 
Sling a huge bag,
Over her shoulder and 
Around her back
Like a postman’s sack!
Sue chose a bag and they left,
Such a silly disagreement
They had never meant,
For it to last so long,
And on their way home sung
Their favorite song,
Had their supper and went to bed,
Sue sleepily said “I love you Ted”.
