Poem
Some months ago, a friend said to me, "We have come to terms with it". Coming to terms with it. That's it! Therein lies a treasured key to life. Complaining, petitioning, protesting, and reasoning do not always work. Sometimes, you can't find a navigating system anywhere for certain problems. It is often proper and appropriate to 'bow out' even if you happen to be right. When we were kids and 'played marbles', if we did not like what was going on, we could take our marbles and go home. We are not kids anymore and we are in this game together. Being on the same team also means to stay in the game. Not all things work to our satisfaction, and some things absolutely will not change. Whether the cross-winds are people or things, you are no match for them. So my friend was saying, "Sure, I don't like some things that are going on here, but they might be worse somewhere else. That is why I'm staying right here". I read about an activist who was asked for advice in making changes in society. The activist gave his advice in three words, "Agitate, Agitate, Agitate". Because that approach worked for the activist in his day doesn't mean it works for all time. I think my friend said it best. She was saying, "It's not the end of the world. So don't let it get the best of you, and don't let it bring out the worst in you. Sometimes, you just have to 'let it be' and come to terms with it". 06292018PoetrySoup
