The things that turn me on.
Like playing a game with my son,
Then letting him think he has won.
These things turn me on.

The things that make me feel sad.
When people treat others real bad,
Then lose control when their mad.
These things make me sad.

These things are wholesome and good.
People loving others the way we all should.
Helping others when they wish someone would.
These things are wholesome and good.

The things that I’ve thought really mattered.
A woman or child whose lives men have shattered.
Left alone with no help in a shelter for the battered.
These things really mattered.

The things that help me a smile.
Clothes for the homeless left in a pile.
Innocent plaintiffs aquited at trial.
These things help me smile.

The things I wish I could change.
Like shooting a gun when not on a range.
Anyone different who believes they are strange.
These things I would change.

The things about love I reckon are cool.
A woman you love whom you don’t try to rule.
The two of you equals but she makes you drool.
These things I reckon are cool.

The things I love about being alive.
Watching my boys learn, grow and strive.
Teaching them lessons and watching them thrive.
These things are why I’m alive.
