The Group was a mid-1950s London poetry workshop led by Philip Hobsbaum. Writers met to read new work aloud, discuss drafts closely, and give criticism to one another. The circle helped shape several important British poets, including Ted Hughes, Peter Porter, George MacBeth, Peter Redgrove, and Edward Lucie-Smith.
