A Rubaiyat stanza is a four-line stanza patterned after the Persian rubai or ruba'i. In English poetry, it most often follows the rhyme scheme AABA, with the third line introducing a rhyme that does not return until the fourth line. Poets use it for a compact, reflective, self-contained thought.
