Poesy is an old-fashioned word for poetry, especially poetry considered as an art. Writers may use it in a formal, historical, or romantic tone when referring to verse, poetic creation, or the body of poetry as a whole.
Shelley uses it in the first stanza of his long poem The Mask of Anarchy.
