An envoi is a brief concluding stanza or section, especially in fixed forms such as the ballade, that often addresses a person, patron, or the poem itself. It usually comes after the main stanzas and serves as a closing message, dedication, or final comment.
In some poems, the envoi acts like a send-off: it turns outward to speak directly to someone, or it neatly gathers the poem's last thought.
