My youngest daughter had a friend over and when it was time for her to go I heard her in the other room calling SHOES ! SHOES! SHOES! as if she were calling for a person. I looked around and found her shoes and took them to her and she thanked me and ran to my daughter excitedly and said " See I told you they come quicker if you call for them." I laughed and went on about my business filing away the memory for future giggles.

I and some newly made friends went on a mission trip to Alabama to deliver disaster relief supplies.
When we got to Montgomery we were given rooms in a house that was for women who were long term prisoners and were released. The house was there for them to stay in while they were getting used to being outside again. I had brought my tool pouch with me for just in case and as Larry and I looked around we knew that the (just in case) was here. We went to bed and got up the next morning and were supposed to tour Mr. Chaps disaster warehouses and unload the supplies that we had brought. But instead we asked "since we will be here for 2 days (turned into 4) is there anything that needs repair"? There turned out to be many things some of which we did not have time to address, that we repaired. Mr. Chap told us that there were some outlets that did not work so we went to the breaker box. We took off a home made box cover and Larry said "there's a light in between these breakers" I looked and sure enough it looked like the glow of an LED. We turned the power off and pulled the breakers and they fell apart because they were on fire and that was what produced the glowing light. We found another breaker that would not stay on and later found an outlet that had burned which had caused the problem. We talked it over and thanked God for preserving us the night before and let our sponsors know that we could not in good conscience leave there without properly repairing that situation. There were access panels to the attic through out the house but there was one that seemed to call to me and I told the others that I would have to go up there. I later looked up at it and said to myself " do I really want to go up there? No I don't". then God said " ooh yes you do." We replaced the box and breakers and repaired some connections to the box and double checked it all. And then I went to the attic access and went up to discover that there were about 1 1/2 feet of blown in insulation and our time there was low. I said " Father how am I supposed to find the problem in all of this? You are going to have to show me." Then God said "turn around". I turned and found a junction box and I took the cover off and found some wires loose and I tightened them and put the cover back on. But Father said " look again follow the wire". So I did and the wire was bundled up and the end cut off exposed and shoved into the insulation. So I opened the junction box and took the wire off and closed it back. I knew from the peace that I had that I was now done with what I was supposed to do so I closed it up and climbed down.

I was talking to Mr. Chap later and asked him" why that someone from this big city didn't come in to help with this?" And he said "because I called you. I needed help and I called out and God sent you." In thinking back I understand that Father has a way of putting us in situations to meet the needs of others and to help us with our own problems at the same time. I needed that trip and will write about that at another time. Father sent us and we not only ministered to but saved lives. Not just the lives of those we served but also our own. I now know that things come quicker if you call for them. SHOES! SHOES! SHOOOEESSS!
