What to Submit?
1 original, poem on ANY theme .............
In the form GHAZAL
The Ghazal is a collection of Sher's [couplets] 5 couplets or more generally (independent two-line poems! Think proverb..), in which there is at least one RADEEF [repeated word or phrase] at the end of the second line.
In the first couplet, the end word or phrase in BOTH .. lines..must be identical.
The repeat word [the RADEEF] above is ALWAYS.
In the rest of the poem it is only required the RADEEF
the word or phrase be repeated in line 2
The word before the radeef [repeated word or phrase] MUST rhyme throughout the Ghazal. This device is called KAAFIYAA [what we would call the end rhyme pattern and it is monorhyme ]
The end rhyme pattern above is [a,a/b,a/c,a/d,a/e,a]
The last couplet's last line traditionally contained the TAKHALLUS [pen name] of the poet.
All the Sher's [couplets] are of same 'Beher' [length/meter] and have the same 'Kaafiyaa' [end rhyme]
**I am NOT requiring the same meter
OR that you use your pen name in the last line.
