What to Submit?
1 original poem on the theme of Sweet or salty? I’m on a food kick this weekend! What kind of response does that question elicit from YOU? Maybe food does not even come into your mind. That’s ok too. Just take that short phrase “Sweet or Salty” wherever it leads you!!
Here is the catch. You may use only one of these five-line forms: Tanka/ Limerick/ Quintain or Quintella(see Soup‘s description of these forms under Poetry forms). I am adding to this rule, you may also do 5 rhyming couplets.
Use One to Two stanzas. (5 to 10 lines) or five rhyming couples. No names on poems.
Use either Salty or Sweet or both words somewhere in the title of your poem.
As usual, I am looking for well crafted poems that use good imagination and/or imagery. Great punctuation is a plus while poor grammar and spelling will probably get you eliminated. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
1st to 10th place with multiple placements depending on number of entries that meet my requirements.
Preparing Your Entry
Submit one copy of your poem online. Format your poem. Please make your entry easy to read — no illustrations or fancy fonts.
Poems should be in English. Poems translated from other languages are not eligible, unless you wrote both the original poem and the translation.
