1 ORIGINAL, poem on the theme of MY VALENTINE
You may choose any recognizable poetry form (no mixing and matching of poetry forms, please). No prose, except in the explanation/decoding (see below). For example, if you choose to write a tanka to your secret love, do not write an extended haiku. Similarly, Blank Verse has a set meter, etc. Clearly indicate which poetry form you have elected to submit your poem in.
Example of a tanka poem:
the wild cats scatter
between the cold moonlit rocks
night softly whispers
I don’t want to break the spell
morning sun will melt our dreams
Explanation of the message: It is a message to a loved one of a special moment which we had shared. It is a reminder that the moment was transient.
Example of an Acrostic poem:
Will the world ever stand still?
You were my only love true.
Marry your man - don't tarry!
Me, I'm lost and not free.
Please, you're not the one for me...
Decoding: Will you marry me, please. [Me ... free. tarry! true still?]
[By using a rhyming scheme at both ends of the lines (except the last line) , the eye is drawn to the message this "note" contains.]
1. Poems: MAXIMUM 20 LINES. Any poetry form on the subject: My Valentine. The poem must be a message to a secret love OR a poem which contains a secret message to your loved one.
2. Please round your entry off with a brief (no more than THREE LINES) explanation/decoding of the message contained. As in the case of an Acrostic poem, either letters or words may be used in the encoding – please highlight these devices. I will not have the time to count out words, for example, to glean the message.
3. No names on the entries, please. Please date your entries.
I am looking forward to reading your entries - romance the love of your life! Let your imagination run wild
