What to Submit? A haiku from those new to haiku, OR new to Poetry Soup Contests.
1 original, haiku on the theme of the nature of man or the nature of nature.
Form- - - - Only THREE LINE HAIKU POEMS will be accepted and all poems will be placed as Good, Better or Best which will equate to places 3, 2, or 1. The physical placement WITHIN a catagory will have no bearing on how good or bad the poem is. There will be no difference in glory for the top number 1 or the 12th. I will not use points to judge this contest. I will read and try to make a COMPARATIVE ASSESSMENT of each poem and winners should not crow or losers cry as there will be no losers, for this is primarily a LEARNING EXPERIENCE to induce more newbies into the fold of poetry soup contests and into the haiku experience. So, even if you know nothing of haiku, read what is on the soup. Google a few websites and set your quill in motion. Again please look up the form, just try to be as close as you understand it, and let's go from there. I do not wish to drop someone's poem because it is an ABC, a SONNET or any other form. It must be labeled haiku form and for this contest it must be written in three (3) lines. All three line poems entered will be considered haiku. I will know if you did not look up the requirements.
Submit one copy of your poem online. Format your poem. Please make your entry easy to read — no illustrations or fancy fonts.
Poems should be in English. Poems translated from other languages are not eligible, unless you wrote both the original poem and the translation.
