***EARTHQUAKE IN CALIFORNIA sooner or later***

                                Photo: A

I thought I would share with you this photo I took today. I am staying in Palmdale, California for a short period of time and, today, I saw with my own, two eyes a "slice", a transversal contortion of SAN ANDREA'S FAULT, the (earthquake) fault that runs along the state of California, place where the BIG ONE will happen sooner or later. So...ENJOY! :) If I can say that :)
Peace and Love,

Hey Andrea, flatness of land has little to do with quakes....... in the central parts of the US, there occurred the giantestest of earthquakes way back a couple centuries ........ it's known as the New Madrid Quake, and it is still likely to go again - but who knows when ? ...... Syd

Makes you wonder. I've noticed most of the beach cities, has signs for evacuating, in case of a Tsunami! They weren't there when I was a kid....Kinda spooky. Arizona and Nevada will be beach front property.

I believe when the "BIG" one occurs, it will set off a chain reaction affecting many parts of the US. Utah has been told to prepare for its big one for the past 30 years! amazingly, they even expect one in the middle of the US, in the midwestern states, where land is almost flat!

the san andreas and other "famous" faults are in fact only famous because there are major cities atop them such as LA Tokyo or Ankara....of course these are rightly a cause for concern....but on the earth wide scale of seismic activity the submarine quakes are even more about 11 or 12 or more on the Richter....we usually dont feel them because they are deep under the water....but they do cause tsunamis......

Thanks for sharing Iolanda. My grandparents lived in the small town of San Jacinto when I was a little girl, and I often was told that the San Andrea's Fault was directly down Main Street of that little town. I've been there when we have had a bit of a 'shake - rattle- and roll' !

Quite a picture and thought. I've gone in caves in Arkansas where you can walk for miles along the New Madrid Fault. A mysterious under ground river where they can't find a bottom roars at a tremendous speed along with it. It stops and makes you think, too.

In about one million years, part of CA on the ocean side of the fault will bump into Alsaka.

the motion of this fault is from north to south, sliding.... the earthquake will be horizontal and not up and down...what a sight from the freeway!!!
