Bloggers PhotoStory Tellers Secret by Richard Lamoureux

I sat with a reluctant story teller
Cross legged
Holding my breath
The fabric of her mind tightly folded
Tucked in

I reached for a thread
A gentle tug
Hoped it would come loose
Reveal her secrets
The tales I desperately craved

She smiled a knowing smile
Looked into my eyes
I gazed back
Searching for my prize

She whispered
"Listen close
Within my hands
I hold the ghosts
They scream to be released
I'm trying hard to hold them back
If they escape
They will attack"

My childish wonder turned to fear
Could Ghosts really, follow her here
As I wondered she began to laugh
Within my soul I felt a draft
I got my wish now I am cold
I could not handle the story she told

I ran through the forest
Spirits close behind
With her string attached to my mind
The reluctant story teller she knew best
My little mind had failed the test

I am a reluctant story teller
You sit cross legged
Holding your breath
"Come a little closer
so I may whisper in your ear".

Dedicated to my Friend Vicky a story teller Extraordinaire.

Vicky by Richard Lamoureux

I do not have the words to describe the  uniqueness of you
You are the voice in the wilderness
Crying out to  me
Not to just me alone
Still you speak directly to my soul
I am moved  too places I have not seen
Experiences foreign to my imagination
I taste  the dirt beneath your fingertips
I am satisfied
And yet I wish to consume  more
You drag me down
Yet I am lifted by the brilliance of your  thought
I sit in the centre of the darkness illuminated by your light
Each  word written with purpose
I cry and laugh
I am shocked and disgusted
I  rip at my chest in anguish
I feel the pain of those I do not know
How is  it that I live in a world without justice
I was unaware I was part of the  problem
Until I read your words
A voice calling out from the  wilderness
A strange now familiar voice
I clap and clap and clap
For  you my STANDING OVATION
Your words your words your words
I am  moved
Thank you

It was supposed to be world peace day...
Blog Posted:9/22/2013 2:29:00 AM

It was supposed to be world peace day…unfortunately it turned into a blood bath when terrorists descended on the Westgate Mall, in Nairobi, Kenya on Saturday at 11.00am. Africans, Asians and Caucasians were not spared. As of today afternoon, the death toll had reached 59 with over 170 injured. The multi-agency operation to secure the mall is still ongoing and all we can do is watch the news and hope no more hostages are injured. Pray for our country Kenya.

It's finally over (as reports indicate). The death toll is now at 72 including 5 militia. Numerous individuals continue to tell their heartbreaking stories and a lot of people have come together to help those who have been affected by making various donations. Security has been beefed up in various parts of the world. All we can all do is to remain alert and stay safe. Thank you all for your well wishes and prayers.

Oh Vicky its such a sad situation, take care. I was listening to the radio, to a British person who now lives in Kenya, saying it was a retaliation by Somalia of the invasion by Kenya awhile back. When does the tit for tat stop. Peace is such a small word but with a huge meaning.....Seren

Thanks Seren, it is a difficult situation. Peace really needs to replace war.

Oh, Vicky, the people of Kenya and every person touched by this horror are in my prayers... hatred breeds hatred, is my thought. Only when the world begins to share its resources and compassion will acts of such violence be a thing of the past. I am barely on line, but had to stop by your blog, tell you that Kenya is on the minds and in the hearts of millions... May the world know change in our lifetime and --in the smallest way-- poets can cause a ripple effect with their words, with their voices. And may terrorism and all its causes one day be a thing of history. Praying the rest of the hostages are rescued ... thank you for this blog, Vicky.

Thank you Cyndi. I like the thought of poets causing a ripple effect - maybe then things will change for the better.

Vicky...I'm so so sorry to now about this. It has caused a stir for many in our church group as we run an Academy there...Maxwell Academy. Often the kids go to that very same Mall.... :( :( :( What is happening to this world???? It is so so sad...It desensitizes you. I remember during the war years...there were snippers that would shoot at passing cars, pedestrians, and still people would go out...What can you do? Stay in prison all your life? Booby trapped cars....Nowhere is safe...May God bring a resolution soon. May He touch your heart with comfort....

I guess they chose that particular location to put the point across that none of us are safe. But life indeed cannot stay at a stand still. I hope the kids are safe. Thanks for your concern Eileen.

It seems each and every day, another horror, more innocent lives are in danger. Hate breeds more hate...... my heartfelt prayers to those who suffer in the hands of evil.....and my most fervent prayers are that those who inflict such evil, by some miraculous change of heart, will let the innocent ones free. God Bless those who were caught in this terror. and Thinking of you today, dear Vicky.

The news just reported 69 dead and 175 injured. They're reporting it may be 5 Americans behind the plot. It hasn't been fully verified, but it is what they're here in California. My prayers and condolences, Vicky... Be safe, Babygirl!

I just heard a poet from Ghana was killed In the attack....we can only wonder why such barbarism still exists today. It is in the genes of some to be that way and then the environment intensifies and completes the process.

Yes, professor Kofi Anwoonor had come to speak at the Storymoja hay festival when he was killed. His son was shot in the shoulder but he was treated and discharged. Ghana and the world has indeed lost a remarkable poet and statesman.
