Linguistic's 101

Blog Posted:4/11/2012 12:02:00 PM
To the SOUP, and all of it's RUE maker's...

I've experimented with people of all different ethnic backgrounds;
with them reading my work, and me saying it. The response from
reading was positive. I love reading myself! When I delivered
vocally, the emphasis I put on the wording, it appealed to them
more. So, I asked why? Response; it was an interesting read,
but they didn't read it the way I delivered it!
So I thought, how could it be different? Through individual
interpretation. When we perform, it's like a dictatorship. We guide
their emotion's through linguistic's. But they do want the writing for
keepsake, or framing! Hand in HAND? It should be?
We've mortgaged the shelves. Our books rarely become best seller's.
We're up against singer's, reality shows, etc. I think we've lost our
way as entertainer's. MY opinion.. our commodity isn't in demand,
only by us writer's! The mass are not avid reader's, but most
understand, what they hear. I love BOTH!

PoetrySoup, if you can add a voice recorder, on the site, you'll probably
be the only site with it. BE FIRST! THAT ONE WAS FOR FREE...LOL!
ALL POET'S, OR SCRIBE'S, who agree, or disagree; PLEASE leave a
comment for the SOUP. LET'S REIGN SUPREME, BABY!

I'M ON A CRUSADE, TO SAVE, WHO'S SLAVED, YOU BRAVE, THEN REMOVE

PD, just do them all in the sexy voice lol....I didn't think about the Mike Tyson scenario; tough looking dude, but if he was cursing you over the phone, it'll be hilarious, til he show up. Thanks for the comment.

Hey, but I can do a sexy, or dramatic voice... I have thought of this...myself..on the comment box... when im on my phone, I voice comment..to lazy to text it out...imagine poets, being able to hear our comments... Anyways gotta go..pd

Thanks, Ruben for stopping, and saying yes. Chris, I'm ready. I do open mic's, and when it's a get together with friends and family. People can't fake their reactions. Thanks....surprise they didn't censor us!

Marlon, this idea has been broached before in the past. It would be a smashing addition to the Soup. Maybe your voice and drive will help push this idea into fruition. Btw, nice to see you with a PM - keep on blogging, keep on blogging!

Michael, I can imagine hearing your piece; the love letter from the battlefield! Imagine that..o my goodness. Will check out that download. Thanks for commenting. It's good to know I'm not the only one that can vision a broader spectrum. We've been sheltered by the book cover too long. Time to stand for something, or fall for nothing..

Yes, here on this site the is a fire, an inferno called passion. I do find that if I can read my work out loud as I do to my wife as often as I create, know where to emphasize bring out the power of my words. It does bring it so much more to life. If you go to the Librabox website you can down load classic poetry audiobooks for free. I challenge everyone here down load the Art of War fascinating audiobook and again I say it's free.

Catie, thnx for commenting. Tracie , it's the voice we hear, while writing. The poem from the writer comes to life. Thanks, Ladies! It is appreciated.

But, like David, i also know of that other poetry site that already has audio, and hardly anyone uses it. It's a very boring site compared to the soup. Love to all :)

Anthony.....I don't have too many slams, in my catalog. Slam can be overly aggressive. I'm not trying to strongarm the listener, just brand the brain...Thanks...Nikko, if and when you do, let me know how it turned out....remember, tomorrow isn't promised. It's a eye opener!

First, I thank all of you for taking time to comment! At the same time, it would be mandatory to post your script of the same poem. I've read books that were better than the movie. The book had more detail. A baby is a baby, inside the womb; we wonder what it'll look like. Time for poetry to give birth, so we can play with the baby.''DAVID'' badboy, another website, who, what...lol. ''NIKKO'', AS STRONG OF A WRITER you are, you should do it. The butterflies, fly away when the first person, smile, laugh, put their hand over their mouth, etc. Get you some people, some you don't know, some you do. Then recite the one you Love the most, it's LIBERATING, I promise. ''JOANN'', similar, but slam draws off of raw emotions. Alot of it is racial, I don't do racism. Depending on what we write, will be how we deliver the work. Your emotion take over you, the reward is the look on someone's face. Better than money, ummm not that good! AGAIN THANKS TO EVERYONE...

Scribe, I mentioned this a few blogs ago, there is a poetry site with a voice on it where your poems can be heard...I wish poetry soup would take it up..David

I agree with your comment that the poet puts emphasis the way it came to him/her. That is why for so long I did not share my writings. I was afraid. I think the ability to be heard is powerful and caninfluence the audience. And you are correct, we compete agsainst TV, radio etc. so for a site to give us a voice, a true voice, would be wonderful. Great idea.

Hi Marlon :D! Being able to have an audio for our poetry here would be awesome-- I've always felt that it would be such a cool feature! I actually experimented before on my blog, posted an audio file of me reading a poem of mine...took too much work for me, lol. So an audio feature sure would be simpler.Oddly enough, I have Never read my poetry to an actual live audience as in right in front of me (not sure if I have the guts)-- posting an audio file to a poetry site would be a different thing for me though, and I honestly prefer that :D ...Having your voice literally heard would add another dimension to your poetry methinks :D ...I hope Soup hears you!
