Life is an infinite continuum, feeding on its own death. Our mortality, real and imagined, lives within. We can always see these truths with a discerning eye. The mirrored images that seem like two, are but one, a parallel universe whose paths cross like a wisp of wind, we are all of one time, like prose and poems written in separate centuries, but of the same struggle. There, always there, truth never hides, except for those who don’t seek it for fear of what they might find. From light to dark we fly in different directions though toward the same destination. What matters is what we do on our flight. Do we see the paths of leaves as they float on the pond, the reflection of the sky beyond, and the trees, who have now shed their leaves but will reflect full in the spring; beneath the leaves, the roots of the lily pads and the stare of a wary carp who looks from his world as we do from ours? We must find time on our journey to read, play a game, or simply sit and wonder at the marvels around us, for death will come in its own time…

Just an Idea

Need feedback guys. This lyrics thing---hey, I'm thinking of sending off to Pierre Bensusan "some" of the lyrics that you "we" are producing to his song. I will, of course, get permission and comment from all involved and I think with this group of talented writers we could become a pool (wishful thinking) perhaps. I have some experience with lyric writing and would be happy to discuss. Not only that but the writer of the music could care less about what some publishers say was published before like on poetry soup. Just a seed guys!! Let's talk!

I think this is a really good idea. I would like a little critique on my poem before doing it though because I am not completely certain that it matches the music all the way though. I am looking forward to reading the works of these talented writers that took on the challenge.

What a wonderful idea......and a compliment, Craig, to any or all the writers who submitted lyrics, or if any even come close to pleasing the one who wrote such a lovely melody. It sounded so melancholy to me....as if it were meant to be a sad song. It is beautiful music....and I am always a fan of the guitar. :) And ps....thank you so much Cyndi...you pay me such an enormous compliment!

:) What a LOVELY idea... I have been motivated before here, to 'needle' a poet into submitting her work elsewhere, as it was far far too good and far far too moving to rest in the halls of soup. The poet? Carrie Richards. The poem? Amazement ... http://www.poetrysoup.com/poems_poets/poem_detail.aspx?ID=457819 I actually contacted the registry for the memorial... EVERYONE should read this poem, but especially New Yorkers whose strength in the aftermath of 9/11 simply astounds. So, yes, if something moves you move with it, is what I say! Tracie, our indigo girl would have said, good on ya, mate :D

Sounds good. This was my first try to put the words to the music, but I found it easier than writing poetry. Of course almost all my poetry is highly metrical, so I guess that made it easier.
