Life is an infinite continuum, feeding on its own death. Our mortality, real and imagined, lives within. We can always see these truths with a discerning eye. The mirrored images that seem like two, are but one, a parallel universe whose paths cross like a wisp of wind, we are all of one time, like prose and poems written in separate centuries, but of the same struggle. There, always there, truth never hides, except for those who don’t seek it for fear of what they might find. From light to dark we fly in different directions though toward the same destination. What matters is what we do on our flight. Do we see the paths of leaves as they float on the pond, the reflection of the sky beyond, and the trees, who have now shed their leaves but will reflect full in the spring; beneath the leaves, the roots of the lily pads and the stare of a wary carp who looks from his world as we do from ours? We must find time on our journey to read, play a game, or simply sit and wonder at the marvels around us, for death will come in its own time…

Help (I hope) for the lyrics Contest

Blog Posted:6/3/2013 12:50:00 PM
Based on
This is how I configured my lyrics--See if you can hear it.

If I kissed you in the morning (at the start) would you stay, or like the mist here in the garden would you slowly fade away, and if the sunlight warmed your lonely brow and made you smile, would you be here by my side and walk with me a while. (at 29 seconds)

(15 second improv.) There's a blushing glow of roses, (At 44 seconds) A rouge upon your cheeks, A hint of mellow sadness in your eyes (at 51-52 seconds) And a heart that wants to trust In your smile. (at 56 seconds) I wish I knew (at 1:09 seconds) the secret to your love I wish I knew I wish I knew (at 1:18 seconds) Will you wander here with me (at 1:26-1:27 seconds) and let's just share the day. Who knows, perhaps we'll find our way. (around 1:38 seconds) If I kissed you in the morning (at 1:46 seconds) would you stay, or like the mist here in the garden would you slowly fade away. (at 1:59 seconds)

Hope this helps give you an idea.

Great lyrics here, Craig! You know, I've been thinking (not always good for everyone) are you going to sing the winning entries and post them on youtube? I think that would be a fun reward for all the trouble it takes to hear around the improvisations and fill-ins. I'm only half serious. Just wanted to see what kind of response I get from this :)

Craig, it did! I saw your romantic, soulful take on the tune this morning, but didn't have time to comment and barely have a minute now! I did begin some work, and hope to finish it tonight... your example was a tremendous help because I began to hear the melody. I was having trouble picking up the melody because of the ??er??? umm??? what do you call that? Harmony effect? It is lovely, but I had a hard time trying to distinguish where or how to begin... now I get it! Thanks again! What a rush! LOL. Hugs Cyndi OKAY THAT IS FREAKY my captcha says RAP.

Good, the music that strays from the melody is called improvisation or extemporization which basically is embellishing the melody, but if you listen you can pick out the melody. There are also interludes that transition between segments of the composition. If you are to write lyrics these must all be considered, but the primary melody is your guide.
