About Kim Merryman
(Show Details...)
Bloggers Photo   Hi! My name is Kim Merryman. I was born April 27, 1959 in Louisville, KY but grew up in Rancho Cordova, CA.  My husband's name is Rob. We were married on May 30, 1981 and we have two grown sons named Daniel and Matthew, and a black cat named Max.

I currently live in Niceville, FL located in the Florida Panhandle, near Eglin AFB. With my husband being in the Air Force we have moved around a little. We have lived in California, Florida, Texas, Okinawa and North Carolina.

I am a Christian and many of my poems reflect that.  I've only been writing poetry for 7 years. Most of my inspiration comes while I'm reading my Bible.

My other interests include reading, crocheting, counted-cross stitch, and playing Scrabble.

I'm so glad I found Poetry Soup. Since becoming a member I have learned so many new forms. The contests have stretched my creativity and the positive comments are so encouraging.  Even though I've never met you, I feel like I know you. Looking forward to a long, happy relationship with all of you.

A Month of Changes

Blog Posted:7/24/2013 4:44:00 PM
Hello, my friends! This past month has been a month of changes for my family and I: Losing my dad unexpectedly on 6/27/13, welcoming my son Daniel home from Afghanistan last week after not knowing if he would make it back in time to see his daughter born, concern for my daughter-in-law's health and for the health of the baby, falling and spraining my ankle and having to use crutches just days before the baby's due date! Emotionally I have been up and down like a roller coaster.
Today, 7/24/13 at 4:30 a.m. my granddaughter, Ava Grace Merryman was born weighing 5 lbs 11 oz. My son was by his wife's side through it all and my husband and I were privileged to be present at her birth. There were many obstacles to overcome to get to this day, but God was in control and He brought everything together. I am so in awe of His mercy and grace!

I just wanted to share this wonderful occasion with my dear friends at Poetry Soup! I treasure your friendship and support.
Love, Kim

Congrats Kim, your love and faith brought you to a happy conclusion. Sorry about losing your Tad, he would have happily given up his place here on earth to make room for Amy. Enjoy your family....Seren

It's great to hear things worked out OK in the end, though I'm sorry for the loss of your Dad... At least the circle of life brought a new Grand Daughter into your life... God works in mysterious ways... I'm sure she and your son will be a comfort to you.

Dear Kim, It is with joy to hear the blessing of your new granddaughter, I am also so touched by the journey you have been through these last weeks. My heart goes out for the loss of your father....but the birth of a sweet baby is a reminder of this amazing cycle of life that each one of us must never take for granted. Enjoy each precious minute rejoicing our loved ones! Congratulations to your family!

He does have it all in control, doesn't He? I'm so glad that you reached to this wonderful day and could witness the addition of this new member of your father. Joy is often tempered with sorrow. My sympathy to you for the passing away of your father. May you be comforted knowing that every day we live is written in His book before even one of them came to be, a it says in His word. My thoughts to you and your family during this time. Glad your son is home same and sound! :)

:D So glad your grandbaby arrived safe and sound and I'm sorry to hear of all your other hardships. There is something so... moving and comforting... about the birth of wanted child after the passing of a parent. I, too, lost my dad and then (thank you God) had a much longed for child. I understand the emotions very well. I tell my daughter all about her "Grandpa John in Heaven" and she loves to hear Grandpa stories. Down the road, your own tales about your dad will surely be something the wee girl will want to hear again and again. May you see bits of him in her, as I do with my daughter. This is a joyful sadness... hugs to you!
