Stephanie Deshpande's art is beautiful and fearless. There is a physiological aspect to her pieces, a deceptive simplicity, and if you look deeper you can see a story in every portrait. Some will see something dark in her work, other's will see the light... how we see things is completely subjective. Her work captivates, both yells and whispers...
For my final contest in the Women Painters series, I would like you to write a free verse poem that feels modern, urban and uses rhyme FREELY... where the spirit moves you... inspired by one of the portraits by Stephanie Deshpande.
Let her work speak personally to YOU... tell me a story, your story, her story, a combination. PLEASE INCLUDE THE NAME OF THE PORTRAIT THAT INSPIRED YOU!
On this site, Linda (the Poet Destroyer) is a poet who is an awesome free rhymer who lets the rhymes fall where they will, without over-thought, self-censorship or preset boundaries.
Excerpt from Flaws by P.D.
I sleep like a prisoner, in my own dreams.
I wake up to the flaws of reality..
I meditate to this world I hate.
I live a life no one will ever appreciate.
Everything changed since the day I took my first step.
Flaws in the pride I demonstrate
Flaws is the only way we relate.
Perfect by Pink
Made a wrong turn
Once or twice
Dug my way out
Blood and fire
Welcome to my silly life
Miss no way it's all good
It didn't slow me down.
Always second guessing
Look I'm still around
Get personal, get real, get in touch, get a feel, get me and get free.
POETS, START YOUR ENGINES!!!!!!!
LOVE TO ALL
