Cyndi MacMillan is a well-rounded writer who embraces many genres and forms. Her work has been published in local newspapers and has won contests. She enjoys reading literary journals, and she is actively pursuing publication within their glossy covers.

Verse is both magnetic and kinetic. She attempts - madly- to give equal attention to her poetry, short stories, and a novel-in-progress, the Trim of Wicks.  Regardless of genre, she focuses on language. One word has the power to repel or pull. She never forgets the reader and does her best to make their ride interesting.

Poetry soup is a good forum which enables people from around the world to share poetry. It has some great resources and provides a nice space for friends to meet.

Cyndi lives in a small town in Ontario with her husband, young daughter and far too many books.

GOOD-BYE, STOMPIN' TOM, WE WILL MISS YOU! Edit---an intro to Stompin' :)

Blog Posted:3/7/2013 9:19:00 AM
Stompin' Tom Connors has died at the age of 77.

He was more than a musician in Canada, he was an icon and his songs are beloved across our nation, from Newfoundland, his home, to British Columbia. There was none like him before, there will be none like him again.

He was outspoken, proud of his heritage but humble by nature. His songs were humourous and told simple stories. If he'd run for politics, he'd have been elected.

We will miss you Mr. Connors.

May you continue to Stomp up there, stumming and humming ....

LOVE FROM CANADA

The Hockey Song

Hello out there, we're on the air, it's 'Hockey Night' tonight.
Tension grows, the whistle blows, and the puck goes down the ice.
The goalie jumps, and the players bump, and the fans all go insane.
Someone roars, "Bobby Scores!", at the good ol' Hockey Game.

Oh! The good ol' Hockey game, is the best game you can name.
And the best game you can name, is the good ol' Hockey game.

Second Period.

Where players dash, with skates aflash, the home team trails behind.
But they grab the puck, and go bursting up, and they're down across the line.
They storm the crease, like bumble bees, they travel like a burning flame.
We see them slide, the puck inside, it's a one-one hockey game.

Oh! The good ol' Hockey game, is the best game you can name.
And the best game you can name, is the good ol' Hockey game.

Third Period. Last game of the playoff too!

Oh take me where, the hockey players, face off down the rink.
And the Stanley Cup, is all filled up, for the champs who win the drink.
Now the final flick, of a hockey stick, and the one gigantic scream.
"The puck is in! The home team wins!", the good ol' hockey game.

Oh! The good ol' Hockey game, is the best game you can name.
And the best game you can name, is the good ol' Hockey game.

Oh! The good ol' Hockey game, is the best game you can name.
And the best game you can name, is the good ol' Hockey game.

Oh! The good ol' Hockey game, is the best game you can name.
And the best game you can name, is the good ol' Hockey game.

(It's in!)(He shoots, he scores!)(Henderson scores for Canada!

Listen to the hockey song --- This IS Canada.

Hi Cyndi, It is a sad day for Canada. Its also sad when I see many below who have not heard of this man. I always find it amusing that as a Canadian I know all the states and approximately where they are in the the USA, I know the singers and actors who are American but you find that very few Americans know much about north of their border... well except Ryan Gosling, Shania Twain, Michael Buble, Ryan Reynolds, Celine Dion... yes folks, these people are Canadians just like Stompin Tom Connors.

God Speed Stompin' Tom Connors. I don't even know how many times I have heard The Hockey Song over the years....too many times to keep track, that's for sure. Well, without Tom Connors, Canadiana tastes even more like celery now.

I never heard of him, but i heard one of the songs you showed, and he is a lot like RAy STevens and some other red neck type singers that did novelty songs in the US from the '50's on!!

Stompin' Tom was wholly Canadian... an icon here, unknown globally, most likely. Hmmm... think Billy Bragg... but doing folksy country songs. Tom protested the exodus of Canadian talent to the USA, was one who sang of the working man, both urban and rural living, hardships and Canadian life. He is known for the Hockey Song...
