Bloggers PhotoThere isn't much to say, LOL.
I'm 42, married and live in Plymouth, England.
I've had all sorts of jobs, from admin to boat-building to gardening, but, at the moment, I work for the local theatre - cleaning windows and sweeping up. At least the people are all nice and we get plenty of free or cheap tickets : )
My favourite poets are Shakespeare, Wordsworth and Robert Frost. I especially love Shakespeare's Sonnet 29.
I love writing and don't think I could live without it.

We don't have Thanksgiving in England
Blog Posted:11/23/2011 3:26:00 PM

But a very happy Thanksgiving to all American Soupers for tomorrow : )

I live in Plymouth, where the Mayflower sailed from, so I very much wish we did celebrate it.

I'll drink a toast to you all tomorrow : )

Just put gravy on whatever you eat for three or four days and you'll be celebrating Thanksgiving.

Thank you Jack! Best wishes to you also. I have visted Plymouth, Mass., in the US, and the little replica village of the first pilgrim settlement, Just this week I watched an old movie, the story of the sailing of the Mayflower. We don't often hear too much about Plymouth England, I would love very much to see more of where you live, this important launching place of our American roots! Best wishes to you and yours!

Jack, you can simply celebrate your own Thanksgiving....but, I understand how it would be better as a national holiday. Funny how Thanksgiving was sort of launched from Plymouth, but England doesn't actually celebrate it. I believe James hit the nail on the head with his comment. Hey, no matter how diluted Canada's culture becomes, Hockey will continue to be our national religion(the religious zealots just don't openly admit this....but they sure do get antsy during church service when some of the playoff games land early on a Sunday haha!).

Culture is gradually being eroded in the cities of the UK. I think it's based on the age of us. The US and Canada being young nations still harbour it. There will come a day when it becomes diluted like ours has, sadly :(

Thanksgiving is my all time fave holiday 'cause to me it's all about gettin' outa the rat race and relaxin' with good food, good friends, good family, good vibes of gratitude.. do y'all have a holiday like that over there? Or maybe the rest of the world does this more oftenly, we tend to strive to stress ourselves out to be over-achievers over here... Beauty day to ya, jack, namaste~N

Go ahead and celebrate it. You can be thankful your country is no longer carrying the financial burden we would be for you right now if we had remained a colony. hahaha.
