Curtis and Leroy see an ad in the Starkville Mule Trading Newspaper.
They buy a mule for 100 dollars. The farmer agrees to deliver the mule.
FARMER: Sorry fellows, I have bad news, the mule died last night.
CURTIS: Well then just give us our money back.
FARMER: I reckon I spent the money.
LEROY: Fine, then just bring us the dead mule.
FARMER: What in the world ya’ll going to do with a dead mule?
CURTIS: We are going to raffle him off.
FARMER: You can’t raffle off a dead mule!
LEROY: We shore can. Heck, we don’t hafta tell nobody he’s dead!
(After two weeks the farmer runs into the boys at Pig & Wiggle Grocers.)
FARMER: What’d you fellers ever do with that dead mule?
CURTIS: We raffled him off like we said we was going to do.
LEROY: Shucks, we sold 500 tickets, for two dollars a piece and made
a profit of $998.
FARMER: My Lord, didn’t anyone complain?
CURTIS: Well, the feller who won got upset. So we gave him his two
