Bloggers PhotoMy Biography ...

I was the son of a drover and went to work as a man
from the age of 10. So if I seem a bit coarse and uneducated, perhaps its because  i lack schooling.
The only learning I got was from life and the hard knocks. Then at 15 I was thrown from a race horse and kicked in the head. So for 15 years I was in a fog of stupidity. Which didn't help my cause but maybe did help my karmic debts?
Then i married a bad shiela another stupid move:)
and nothing worked for me those 15 years!
Bad car accident in 1975, head on, naked girl crushed to death in other car the guy had 2 broken arms 2 broken legs. Wife stealing cousin Wayne my nemesis:)
was driving my car? and stepped out and caused the accident. Wayne and I knocked out the windscreen of my car on impact. I had arm full of glass from protecting my eyes with elbow over my nose, broke my collarbone holding the front seat and put a u turn bend in the seat. Broke leg bone broke 3 toes too.
Cuz kidnapped me semiconcious from Nambour hospital, the Cast on my leg  annoyed me so I cut it off with a tin opener. Brother Mark took me to Kullinjah Station my dads property, so 4 days after the accident I tried some hard work fencing.
Pick up the right hand with the left put it on the hand drill, uses left hand to drill holes in the post.
(break)  FRIED SCONES............quick bread replacement in the 1930s
Dissolved fat (or cooking oil) ¼ inch deep in frying pan fairly hot... not burning...
Flour baking soda cream of tartar... OR cup selfraising flour drop of milk or water ...
mix fairly firm cook in the fat and turn often till cooked ....
Fried scones were eaten with an application of fat and syrup mixed together on them .....nice...
Banana fritters
Soft nanas ok too....
For one .... 1 cup s/r flour 1 small banana 1 egg one tablespoon sugar mix till firm and add banana
chunks. Cook in fat till cooked well turning often ...burnt is nice...(.these are usually soft)
Same for corn meat fritters.... 1 cup s/r flour 1 egg add onion & tomato as well for taste.......great

Jonny cakes were a drier mix... dip each one in flour and drop on the wood stove or hot shovel
turn often till cooked
Damper used sr flour milk salt .mixed till semi firm ..Scones too
Brownie was a Damper which had raisins or sultanas plus tablespoon of sugar to make it sweet.

Radio waves

Radio waves
Being a sometimes Ham radio operator, vk4pr.
I’m interested in this subject

Yes radio waves, tv waves, are all in the air around you, all you need is something to grab em.
A tuned circuit, a crystal set does it ....hook its antenna connection to a long wire and the radio waves come into it. The wave you want is grabbed by the tuner part of the crystal set .
A trap is used to get it?
In your battery radio you will see the tuning capacitor which moves as you change channel.
Alongside it you wil see a ferrite rod maybe with lots of wire wound on it.
So what you have is a movable condenser/capacitor in parallel with it sort of grabs the radio wave
at variable frequencys.
At the frequency you have selected or found by moving the condenser part ..Then the radio wave at am radio might be 512,000 times a second, how often it cycles per second, frequency vibration .
(we vibrate 6 times a second I’m told…10 times might be fatal, they tested that idea too, after an elevator buzz was making people sick in a building)
They say hertz per second but it used to be cycles per second 50 years ago.
So the aerial brings the frequency into the radio tuned trap of the coil and capacitor at 512kilocycles per second. Then it loses half or its cycle passing through a diode one way valve ( a one way only gadget) to get the voice audible . Now it goes to your crystal headphones so you hear the voice, or it goes to an amplifier and your woofers.

11 metre Cb radio 27 million cycles per second , used a quarter wave antennae about 9 foot long on your car. Good for taking out fluros at drive through bottle shops
But 2 metre ham radio at 146 million cycles uses about a 19 inch long quarter wave antennae. Frequency faster ariel gets shorter. It all works if you use maths . The mobile phone /radio uses a tiny antennae on it 2way radio and transmits a few milliwatts of tickle in your ear to the tower and your friend.
468 divided by 27 = 17.3333333333333333 etc feet so split it in the middle it will resonate around
27 megarhertz our cb frequency , half wave ant. Shorten or make longer to change the frequency per second. on your car you use half 8.6666666 feet the car body becomes the other half of a tuned circuit, a quarter wave vertical antennae.
So shorten length of vertical antennae to go back towards 28 megacycles.....faster cycle per second Shorter antennae...
The Ark of the Covenant might have been a radio it seemed to be a big capacitor and had dangerous voltages on it that killed men if handled wrongly. The old time valve radios also have dangerous voltages like the valve final amplifiers on Kenwood 520 Ham radios of the past.

Don, 73's from the States. K7ATX here. Call me on 40 meters almost any time. I'm ill and a shut-in so I have little that I am able to do but I can still X-mit. Also I love to use CW. I don't think anyone uses Morse any more. Best Wishes to you. Will AR

I love this stuff haha! Not sure about the Ark of the Covenant being a radio though? Could very well be true. Heard a legend about it housing a m-state power source(monatomic platinum and gold....like a philosopher's stone??), and that a few dudes were electrocuted after touching it wrong, and for two years, King David refused to have it stored in his city lol :D
