I WAS ME
First I was me, Selfish as can be, Wanting everything from A to Z And wanting it all for me.
Then I became we, A part of an us. I learned to share, give and take I learned how to trust.
Next I was you, Believe me it's true. I would rather give than receive, It was you I wanted to please.
Now I am them, A family man. Giving my children, All that I can.
If you look real close, It is easy to see, I am older and wiser, And no longer a me.

The Radio Inside My Head

I have a brother who “channels” for other people. Not really a psychic or mystic or fortune teller – he does, what he calls “readings” for people. He says he just talks with them for a while, holds their hands and meditates together. Then he says it’s as if he has a radio in his head and it connects to the signals being sent by his subject and he is able to tell them things about themselves and helps them with decisions they have to make. Sounds pretty odd to me, but he has many repeat “customers” and really a pretty large demand for his services through word of mouth promotions from those he has helped. I try to keep an open mind and have intended to get a reading myself, but the geographic distance and the life interferences have prevented that from happening. But the more I think about – the more I can relate, because, I too, have a radio inside my head. My radio, however, is tuned to another completely different kind of station. My head-radio does not pick up signals from other people; it picks up songs that have not yet been sung – poems that have not yet been read. My brother shares with other people, by word of mouth, what he hears from their radio signals – I put down on paper the words of the songs I hear on my radio. I think, my brother thinks, me writing poems and song lyrics is pretty odd. Funny how the world works. I just posted the latest song being sung on my head radio – “Your Eyes Can Wander But Your Heart Cannot”. It was playing on my head radio when I woke up this morning and was being sung in a Country Western style by a woman with a wonderful voice. What station, I wonder, is your head radio tuned to?
