Bloggers PhotoWell I am not sure what to say here except to tell you that much of my story is told through my poetry...I have often written about my journey... I have a brother and sister I love dearly and a mom with dementia who doesn't know me but I love her dearly also. I live with a man I love very much ,one big reason being he makes me laugh!..I have many good friends and a kitty named Layla who is much loved and very spoiled! I have alot of interests including playing guitar, keyboard and harmonica, making all kinds of crafts, writing and cooking to name a few...I worked in resort hotels and clubs for many years so I've moved around a lot but now my home is in Pennsylvania which I love.

How vivid is your imagination?

Blog Posted:4/4/2012 1:11:00 PM
Hi soupers...I got to thinking about something and wondered about all of you..I usually write from my life experiences .But there are times I really use my vivid imagination and write from there.I read where David W. said he sometimes writes from a woman's point of few ..that is so cool!!I have also written a few times putting myself in a man's world for a short while and hoping I do the menfolk justice! How many of you simply draw on your personal experience or do you imagine "what ifs" ?

I tap into both. Personal has pain, imagination usually ends up fun for me. When the wording is good, I think it doesn't matter. People want to be entertained, my opinion.

Great blog,Deb! hmmm, now that`s a tricky one.I do,most of the time-write from my own experiences. It all reflects the mood Im in at time its being brought to the pen.Every now and then,I twist my mind and just write something straight from fantasyland:)Happy Easter,Deb..and a very nice photo above your biography. You seem a bit thoughtful.?.Hugs,Arild

I don't write a lot of personal things and when I do, I usually make a joke about it. I write from all perspectives - most of it just some word or phrase I heard that got me to hearing words in my head that had to be written down to be quieted. Mike

My Husband loves light hearted humor with a lot of imagination. See my "A vacation". I've written a lot of Fables as in "The Leader Bunny". Naturally a share are more serious life... But imagination is always necessary in the best. Keep writting.

Deb. I do everything!! I've done man's point of view a few times, often I do third person, like telling a story, and sometimes I do personal I or even "you"as if talking directly to someone. It all depends on what I am trying to convey, and I usually am drawing on things in my life, but often I am not! Just imagining (as you say here)!!!

I write from personal experiences of mine, family members, friends and sometimes just Imagination. Most that read my poems no I can get real imagery. How about my one legged kangaroo who was a trail reader on a posse,or my cat who read to my homeless guy and that same homeless man's talking mole.. lol..Patrick

I write on life's experiences, from the eyes of someone I can empathize with, or from outright imagination, depending on what I'm thinking about at the moment. Some of the sailor stuff is imagination but a lot is personal experience. Political stuff is often a statement and the parodies and others are just fantasy. My blue collar stuff is from being raised in the coal regions and proud of it. I believe I still have a fairly vivid imagination.

I use both but I believe that we should assume that it is created by the author from his imagination. It is hard to be creative if we are going to be embarrassed with sympathy for something that didn't happen. I often explain as a postscript that this did not happen to me. Love, Joyce

Oh goodness,Deb.As a fellow conundrum ;) I have always had an extremely vivid and life-like imagination...ie: I was called into the principals office after one of my poems(being published in the school paper and after having read it aloud in class) upset so many other students--tears, sadness...I made the girls cry (yes I'm a girl,but...) anyway...the poem was rhyme and in a ballad type of form for English...but he thought I needed counseling. So he encouraged me to move on; these things happen; etc etc etc....I was 14y/o...respected my elders said yes sir and that was it. He never even asked if it were a true incident...I think we as poets/artists posess such empathy that we are able to reach into the depths of others...so we have been blessed with an opportunity to help in ways no one else can...Ya think? A lot of my work is as many, therapy for my soul...it helps to vent it out when there is no other way...and if that helps someone else in the process...my torment, tears, and pain were not all in vain...sometimes it's silly, because in the words of Cole Porter, I feel the need to "make 'um laugh!" I think we all have vivid imaginations...somethimes life gets in the way of it...big huggsss, love deb

I most enjoy using my imagination. I prefer poetry that masks the facts. Still there, an apple by any other name. My imagination can be SO vivid, that I scare myself sometimes unless I watch closely which thoughts I allow to enter my mind. hugs, catie :)

I usually write about my feelings and experience, but every now and then imagination takes over. never tried a man's viewpoint. Sometimes i write from childhood.
