Andrea Dietrich grew up in Iowa and now resides in Utah with a spouse and two cats. She has two grown children and three grandchildren. Having graduated BYU with a Spanish major/ESL minor, she has spent most of her adult life teaching. It wasn't until 2000 that she began writing in earnest and discovering her "niche" as a writer of lyrical poetry. The internet opened up a new world for her, and she has spent nearly a decade now participating in poetry clubs, acting as a judge of poetry contests for various magazines and for the website Shadow Poetry, and also, entering poetry contests herself.

Ms. Dietrich has won numerous awards, as well as the title Poet of the Year 2008, from the Yahoo group, Poetry For Thought. In addition, she has won prizes from the magazines Lucidity, Bell's Letters, Art with Words, Poets at Work and SP Quill, the magazine for which she wrote grammar and poetry articles as well as movie reviews and for which she acted as poetry editor for the head editor Marie Summers for six years. Many of her poems have appeared in Shadows Ink, a yearly published series of chapbooks of award winning poetry as well as in numerous other anthologies. Her short stories appeared in many issues of SP Quill and much of her poetry is published in eight chapbooks (the most recent one soon to be published is called Prosies), which can be purchased at

OH MY GOSH, I just noticed something. THANKS SOUP

Blog Posted:11/9/2012 12:43:00 AM
For the longest time I have missed being able to view all my poems at Soup according to FORM. Poetry Soup had organized things last year so that only the most recent four pages showed a person's poems by form. Now when I go to my member area, I can see every single example of every single form i have used in my poetry. I have really wanted that feature returned and now it is back. Please TEAM POETRY SOUP, do not take it away from me again!!!!

By the way, I am sorry I can't read blogs today. My life has become very hectic and I'm thinking of ways I can make extra money with hubbie still job hunting. I lost one of my tutoring jobs and am bummed out for that! Well, I will do my best to keep up with poetry comments, but probably I won't be around the blogs for a while. I want to tell everyone here that I sure have enjoyed your blogs. they are the first thing I usually go to, and I hope my life returns to a more normal state soon!

I don't know what this "my wall" thing is. I just keep getting around the old way. the only thing that has changed for sure is that we can now see ALL our poems by forms. Last month, we could only see the most recent four pages organized by poetry form.

I sure hope something opens for you and Joe. My son is a physics teacher, but cannot get a job teaching. The few interviews he has had all want a coach first, and teacher second, and he does not coach sports.

I feel really bad for college grads. It is lucky if half of them can find work. Sad times.
  1. Date: 11/9/2012 12:50:00 PM
thanks, you guys. And sorry, Francine that your job is closing. Joe will probably go back to the trucking company he hates if he can't find anything close to home, which is all he wants, to be able to be home more often. It was a bad time for him to quit and look for work two months before xmas. Better to try in the spring. The company he was working for is actually holding the job for him because they really like him. I just wish they kept their promises about the routes they give him. If they were better organized, he would not mind them so much.

I can relate Andrea, the company I work for closes its doors Monday and I will be looking for work shortly as well, It has been a zoo there during the liquidation so I am hoping to take a few weeks off before poverty sets in and I have to take any job I can find

Also I just saw that our poetry pages are reduced in number. I think they have made more poems appear on each page. I believe I had around 20 pages and now I have 11!!! but it's easier for everyone to see that we have all the pages (I think, I'll have to check it out)
